It's an African cichlid of some sort, unfortunately African cichlids are probably the family of fish that I know the least about. In fact I can generally ID something as an African cichlid simply on the basis that it's a cichlid and I don't have any idea what it is. I've just never been interested in the rift lake cichlids. I like the riverine african cichlids though...

Re: Identification
Thanks, Cam at first like Shaun said I thought it was a JD(didn't know what JD was)LOL. Then I started doing some searching on how to care for them. Figured out it was no JD. Then when Shaun brought me his female JD knew it wasn't. I was the one who searched and thought it was an Metriaclimia Greshakei. Shaun must have messed up (don't think he did it on purpose) he's a good guy. Here's the pic that I made my guess from. By the way he's not always been so peaceful he was a hellion when he was smaller--eat anything even figured out how to suck a trumpet snail. I think he got tired of being alone. LOL

yes you did the searching and found it was the metriaclimia Greshakei. I said it was that species after you showed me the pics. I never even tried to search for it but I knew 100% it was not any Jack Dempsey. Your a good girl too! Thanks
