Great looking setup you got there. What kind of sand did you use, if you don't mind me asking?

Silica Sand. You can get it at any place that sell pools. Its the sand that they put into the pool filters.

He Sure does!!! I just got him! And is a beautiful compressus! He is one CRAZY piranha and very teritorial. He'd chase all the other fish away from his spot that he hides out right now. He freaked out yesterday and went all crazy he bit one the other fishes tail off then left the fish alone. He was also attacking his own reflection in the tank. Damn he's lighting quick!

Thanks for the info. He looks great over the white sand, I will have to look up a local pool store. :) Do your fish kick it up much or have you noticed it getting in your filters at all?

    Thanks again.. more pics :)

well, I have not found sand in my filters. But when the sand gets kicked up it settles down real fast. But once you have the sand in the tank with it filled. After some time it will compact. But if you want to setup a sand setup i would recomend that you dump the sand into a pale with water and sift it out then put into your tank. Otherwise, it will take a long time for the tiny sand partical to settle down.

I will post more pics when i take some more!

I'm glad my new compressus finally ate a fish today. Its just too bad i couldn't watch him eat it. I did a water change and turned the temp up 2 degrees and he seems to be a lot more aggressive. He is still shy but seems like he is slowly getting used to his new tank! Man, I gotta setup a video camera for the tank. I know he went nuts eating that fish! My thermometer got knocked off the glass and two other fish in the tank are missing fins. One of the two is missing majority of his tail.

I got a few 2.5 inch baby oscars for the compressus to play with. Twisted Evil So far he ate one tetra, started on the second tetra. all the guppies in the tank are doing fine but the oscars are after them. But I am surprised so far he is leaving the oscars alone and showing no aggression towards them for now. He seems he only comming out when the lights are off. Well, I'm going to be temporarily dividing my 125 gallon today.

Yeah they do! The compressus tries to chew the egg crate to get through to the other side. and the Blue diamond just rams it. Its actually pretty neat to watch. It seems that the compressus would hit its prey with multiple quick bites. The blue diamond seems to use more of a brute force type of attack since he will gain speed and ram and bite the prey with force.

The blue diamond will attack the mag float and fingers. The compressus hides when the mag float is out.

The Compressus is doing great! he ain't so shy anymore! I can't believe how aggressive he is. Finally got a video of the compressus eating. They sure don't hunt the same. The Blue diamond is doing great too! He's actually looks bigger, definately thicker. He's becoming more fearless. He will chase the net when it goes into the tank and does not hide anymore. Its neat to watch them just hover in the current.
