    It's been years since I have had one, I don't remember a swing in Ph thou.
    They aren't easy to keep either. If you can get them to eat for you thats half the battle.

    I think the bamboo in with my Bettas at home keeps killing them..I need too research this a little more..maybe try a few ofmthe new test strips I just picked up!

    Bamboo is not a tru aquatic plant it is a plant that does well with alot of water around it but the stocks and leaves shuld be in open air and the roots submerged. My guss on why your bettas may be dieing is when plants are dieing they release a gas (cant think of the gas name ) and that may be throwing params out of wack just enoff to do the deed.

    I can totally see that...just the debris around the roots rotting would damage the water alone

    Yep does an exalent job of removing nitrates in hob filters.
