I have a bichir eel in with Cichlids. He is getting big and I wasn't thinking he was gettign enough to eat when I was feeding bloodworms.I know they can eat raw fish(whitefish).I threw a little piece in the tank other day and even the cichlids were tearing it up.Anyone know if this is a good thing for the cichlids to eat?

I wouldn't think it would be a problem. I have cichlids in my pirhana tank and they eat what the pirhanas don't eat of the feeder fish. They are doing fine.

That makes me feel better..I am one to think they would not eat anything they should not..but I was just curious on if eatugn raw meat would make them more aggressive, or more health problems...I will feed another chunk of fish tonight..I am sure my eel will love it.

Well I wouldn't just leave the raw fish meat in the tank to rot away in the tank. Since the debris from the meat that they don't will produce ammonia which is not good for the fish. I'm doing 2 water changes a week in my tanks of 20 - 30% or after a real good feeding. how big of a tank do you have?

Nice! any pics? I wouldn't leave any debris in the tank long. One day tops. I usually Leave any uneaten food in the tank a 1 day and a half then I usually do a water change. But lately i've been lucky my piranha's have been eating the whole fish. Easy clean up! Off The Wall Question 63052

Hey Lori, like Cam says earthworms ROCK!!!

My Clownknife,Serrulatus,Purple Sanchezi,Gold Spilo and 2 Cats all go kerrazy for earthworms and not only do all my fish look super healthy but the water stays clean and my chemistry never changes and having alot of fish gets expensive too feed and at 250 a dozen thick dew worms...the price is just right!!!
