I'm setting up a new tank for my jack dempsey's(still small 2-3 inches). I have read that they like driftwood and larger rocks. So I went down to the river and gathered driftwood. Shaun said to boil 8 hours in salt water. I had not a clue on how to make it safe. Well I have been boiling it for 20 hours in salt water changed water 3 times.
The thing that I'm concerned about is the driftwood came from the Ohio River (ie not very good water conditions at all--lots of chemicals--every year they tell you how many fish you can eat out of it- -which is about 1-2 a year) if that tells you about the water quality.
Any other advise on how to make it safer or to just tell me too find other---greatly appreciated.
I'm scared!!!
