no the parratos are not native to the area, nobody is really quite sure where they came from. Some beatnick dude discovered them living on telegraph hill which is where the coit tower resides, and wrote a book about it entitled, "the wild parrots of telegraph hill." The book later became a movie with the same title. We were walking down from the coit tower and spotted the parrots. We took lots of pictures, that was the only one I posted. There must have been a hundred of them in the trees right around that location. We were literally standing in someone's front yard.
SF is like the greatest place in the world. If you've never been I suggest checking it out. Everything is beautiful, the people are extraordinarily nice, the government turns a blind eye towards vice. All in all its a lovely place.
