Thats the coolest thing I have seen.They remind me of praying mantis but I guess thast why it is called a mantis shrimp..LOL!

Not sure, I have never owned one. But, I think as adults they can be housed in a 20 gallon tank.
I think some of the bigger species have been known to break glass, and can split your finger open. Granted not all of them are powerful enought to. I think I read awhile back that some of them can strike as fast as a 22 cal. bullet.

Thanks Burgh! That's link answered all my questions! I like that peacock. The colour on it is nice! Kinda scary to think you get one that hitchiked in live rock into your tank and ends up breaking your glass!

NP man! I guess they are a common (pest) found in LR, but depends on the person and what kind of tank they are setting up.
As for them breaking the glass, I think it depends on the tank. I think it would have to strike a weak spot of the glass more so.
There's video's on utube of people holding them and getting struck by them without getting cut. So it probably depends on how pissed off the Mantis is.

I am sooooo into marine right now and man,the mantis shrimp is a fav for sure!!!
Pop one of these guys submerged in a critter carrier in your main tank and you can watch these gys with no worries of loosin fish
