I had a bichir(freshwater) and it only lived a month. Any ideas on what I might have did wrong? It started hanging around the top of the tank and then just died. Only thing I can think of is that it was a fairly new tank at the time. Water conditions were fine though. Albino if that helps Question Question Question

I am not sure what kind my bichir is.and I don't think he will get very big.I have had him 6 months or so.I actuallyhave in a 50 gal(corner) With 5 cichlids(the smaller ones that only get about 6") and 2 crayfish. He does VERY well.He will eat anythign just about.ANythkign from algea discs, cichlid pellets, bloodworms, you name it.I have seen the cichlids try to nip him before but he will actually turn around and nip back. They do not bother him at all.I did add him whern my fish were pretty small so they grown up together so to say.I guess I just got lucky. My PH in that tank runs about 6.5. I found the name if what I have.Polypterus senegalus
